This
lovely property is located in the hills between Lucca and the Versilian
coast, only a 20-minute drive from both of these destinations. Close
to both the Apennines and the Apuan Alps, this setting is also excellent
for hikers and people who like to walk. The two buildings forming
Bottino, used to be a farmhouse and a barn of a very large property
belonging to one of the richest silk merchants of Lucca. From the
windows of Bottino, you can admire a medieval hunting lodge and a
little grey stone church dating back to the year 1000. The whole property
is thus under the supervision of the Italian Historical Buildings.
Today, as in past centuries, the terraced grounds surrounding the
houses are covered with olive groves. The present owners completely
restored Bottino recently, carefully maintaining all the original
materials like antique terracotta floor tiles and beamed ceilings.
At the same time both houses offer all modem facilities and comforts
such as a well-equipped kitchen and an en-suite bathroom in every
bedroom. The house is comfortably furnished with antiques. The interiors
have been comfortable furnished in a very attractive country-style.
The garden includes a lovely wood-oven area, which is nicely furnished
for outdoor meals. Cooking lessons are available upon request.
