Castello Santa Rita - Tuscany Inland

This 11th century medieval castle with a private chapel sits on a hill covered with chestnut and cedar trees near Bibbiena. It has an illustrious past as it has belonged to the Count of Romena, the Florentine Republic and to the bishop of Arezzo. From its towers, battlements and mullioned windows it dominates the Casentino which occupies the whole of the high valley of the river Arno. In the highest part of the castle, above the towers, is a “liberty” greenhouse and a hanging garden, shaded by a centuries-old Lebanese cedar tree. All floors have direct access to the outside.
